Circle # Topic ( Archived )   Circle    Question
5 CRYING My baby is fine all day but has a crying spell for three or four hours in the evening. What can I do?
  • Know that babies generally have a fussy period each day and that evening is a typical time.
  • Some tiny babies like to be swaddled-that is, wrapped snugly in a blanket.
  • Take turns with your partner caring for the baby during the fussy time.
  • See if taking a bath with the baby helps.
  • Dance around to music. It may help her to burp!
  • Play classical music while you stroke her softly.
  • Talk to her; use your voice to soothe her.
  • Take her for a ride in the car in an approved car seat.
  • Plan your schedule to have time to devote to the baby during fussy periods.
  • If you are nursing, vary what you eat to see if it will make a difference.
  • Have the baby checked to see if there is a medical problem.
