NATURE of the TODDLER |
How can I feel better about my child's not being ready to share? He is fourteen months old. |
- A fourteen-month-old may hand things to another child, but sharing is a very mature concept. Lots of adults don't do it well, either.
- Play games that encourage him to pass things back and forth.
- My children didn't share well until after kindergarten.
- Have enough toys and pots and pans for all the toddlers.>
- Avoid taking the child to places where he needs to share.
- Children this age play near each other, not with each other.
- Don't expect him to share a favorite toy yet. He's too young.
- Help him get ready for sharing by letting him pass the cookies when there are enough for everyone.
- Remember, at his age asking him to share is like asking you to open your bank account to a friend. You probably wouldn't like that.
