90	NATURE of the TODDLER	How can I feel better about my child's not being ready to share? He is fourteen months old.
A fourteen-month-old may hand things to another child, but sharing is a very mature concept. Lots of adults don't do it well, either. Play games that encourage him to pass things back and forth. My children didn't share well until after kindergarten. Have enough toys and pots and pans for all the toddlers.> Avoid taking the child to places where he needs to share. Children this age play near each other, not with each other. Don't expect him to share a favorite toy yet. He's too young. Help him get ready for sharing by letting him pass the cookies when there are enough for everyone. Remember, at his age asking him to share is like asking you to open your bank account to a friend. You probably wouldn't like that.
